Does anyone have any good recommendations about phone apps for either Android or the iPhone that warn of traffic accidents, speed traps or road construction?

After looking around a little bit I found Trapster (www.trapster.com) that seems to have a lot of users and a lot of good reviews. Has anyone ever used this? What do you think? Any other suggestions?

I'm going out of town in a month and just want to prepare for a quick and safe trip, especially with a couple kiddos in the back seat.

In my opinion being a competent, capable and safe driver who is constantly aware of the road and everything that's happening around you is a thousand times more important than listening to a distracting app blab about potential road hazards to you...

Have fun and drive safely.

Terry

Waze is quite good and I understand rather active in the US.

In the same vein as Terry's comments, it is really ideal for planning a long journey and being aware of significant hazards that may affect your route. You can set the size of the alert area, say 100+km, so you can search for detours or alter your route well in advance.

Once you're on the road, it gets a bit fidgety to be watching the tiny icon approach on your screen when you could just watch the road—not to mention the couple of distractions in the back!
