How much do you read? How important is reading to you? Why do you read books?

1) Not as often as I should and/or would like - but that's been improving of late.

2) Exceptionally important. Books not only perform the basic things, such as expand vocabulary, elevate one's education, entertain us, they also expand an individual's overall view of the world in which they live. Anything you need or want to know can be found in books - our past, our present, our future. What hasn't been written about factually, has been at least theorized in writing. You can gaze at the world through innumerable "eyes" or create your own. They are the window on the world and doorway into ourselves. They are also there just to entertain us.

3) For the reasons mentioned above. They are a precious commodity which I would not want to live without. Fahrenheit 451 was one of the scariest books (and movie) for me.

I usually read 5 to 7 books a week...I read to learn and sometimes to escape...I could throw away my computer before I could throw away my books;)

I am the only crazy college student that has kept every single book I have ever used in every single class. And I would never buy them used. Hence, I think they qualify as VERY important to me.

I read mostly when I am at the gym doing the cardio exercise. I wish I had more time...when I go on a relaxing vacation I usually read 2-3 books. Come to think of it, that is one of my favorite things to do

I think that makes 3 (maybe 4 since I doubt Joz throws away many books) that keep every book. My mother was an avid reader and kept most of hers. I inherited them when Dad died. Between those, mine, Mr Isa's and ones that have mysteriously moved in - we own a small library. (Used was okay -they just never got recycled to the next student. Never know when you may need them again!)

I can read a hundred pages an hour...give or take. I am down to less than a 1/4 of the books I used to have...I have about 14-1500 on WWII, then who knows how many biographies and science books. I am a total geek;)

Okay, you win in the personal library award!! Don't have that many, but then, haven't opened all the boxes from my dad's house, and that's been 10 years...
Can I get a Cupcake library card???
