Currently I am reading Munenori's "The Live Giving Sword", one of the fundamental works of Japanese Swordsmanship.
He calls it the live giving sword because by killing one evil man you would save hundreds or thousands....
Do you agree with that? Is it right to kill one man to save others?
It could be argued that the collective needs of a society should come before the individual needs of one person.
It does pose the question, will hundreds or thousands truly be saved by the action?? Or, is it just one man's conclusion that it will? Who truly is to say the opponent is evil? And, yes, there are those who I believe to be truly evil - but am I the one to decide that for the masses...)
