"How joyful is it to realize
That you don't dare enough
Waste a lot of time, with running engine.
We imagine the borders of our own existance
way to narrow.
If any man would realise,
how much freedom he's missing
and leaves to be forgotten without a fight.
[...]
We can stand to ourselves whatever way we want,
Most of us are standing still all their lives.
The keeps blowing into their face
But they don't dare to fly."

(Heinz Rudolf Kunze, "Man kann doch zu sich stehen wie man will", loosely translated from German)

This song line (the German original) has become some sort of a Mantra when I was in Africa, I keep singing it over and over again. It made me change my life, pursue the goal of going travelling whatever happens, the first step was giving up my job and finding a new which worked out well so far...

Do you have a certain song/poem/story that has changed/influenced your life?

Have you just come back from Africa, Pardus?

There's a Stevie Wonder song that starts off ...

Aint no body gonna do me
No bodily harm
Some body been playing
With my good luck charm
I aint gonna stand for it
I aint gonna stand for it

OTHERWISE:

A lot of Bob Marley & Peter Tosh music has influenced me in the past ...

Get Up, Stand Up
Who The Cap Fit
& so on

Prosperity

Sharing myself
with only myself
will always be more
prosperous
than sharing myself
with
those
who can not
reach beyond
their own fading
facade.
Will they ever
realize
they have
forgone
the
fortune
of life?

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving
safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in
broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming
-- WOW--What a Ride!

Did you really get a clean version of this one?

The ending I heard: HOLY S**T - What a Ride!

But, I like it both ways!

Or an 80's flashback? The only thing good about that song is the singers last name;)

80's flash back??! no!!!! The 80's live!! The best thing about that song is rolling down my windows at a red light and sharing it with the world!!
