Chelle - are you happy in your job? Do you see yourself doing it long term?

If the answer to either of these questions is no, quit and get your WHV for Australia and New Zealand too - you will have the time of your life!

To be honest I don't mind my job and I could do it long term, but the need to explore the world overrides it and I cannot stop thinking about it!

Sounds a bit like how I felt when I left to go travelling in 2009 and I didn't regret the decision for one minute. If you are thinking that much about it then it means only one thing - you should do it!

Yeah your right! Do you mind if I ask how you got on looking for work in Oz?

I had no problems whatsoever. I got a good, well paid (better than I have ever earnt in the UK) office job in Sydney about a week after arriving where I worked for six months before I headed to New Zealand. It was the only interview I had in Australia!

I think the fact when I went there I was 30 and had a good ten years experience behind me made it easier. How old are you?

Ah that was great so. Well I'm 20. I'm a care assistant. I have no experience in anything other than healthcare and that's what worries me about finding work over there.

I met a couple of people who worked in healthcare when I was travelling and they found work quite easily in Oz. I reckon you will be ok.

Do it!
Don't dwell on the what-ifs because you could make up a what-if for literally everything in your life and it'll just mess with your head.
Hand in your notice, book the flights and go!

In terms of work, anyone can do general bar work or waitressing, a jobs a job and the majority of places will give you the training you need. When my sister went travelling, she got a job in a yorkshire pudding factory...

Deffo get a WHV! You will regret it massively if you don't. That's exactly what i am on, the company i work for offered me a sponsorship but i turned it down as i want to just travel the country and live like a true backpacker for a while. It's an amazing country. I'll be here for another 18 months so get in touch if you need a friend! :)
