So the last couple of months I have been toying with the idea of travelling the USA or Oz. and after going through the two options I have decided the USA is for me.
I'm thinking if I'm going to do it, I may as well do it properly and visit as many cities/towns as I can. I originally wanted to do Route 66, and again going back and forth with this idea as I have heard different opinions on this.
All I know is I am looking to travel from around New York City to San Francisco next summer, end of June beginning or July!
If anyone has the same ideas, give me an email I would love to hear them.
The first mistake that many UKer's make when considering a trip though the US (or Canada) is underestimating the sheer size and distances involved.
The US is over 40 times bigger than the UK so you have to give some sense of your budget, time allotted, interests, etc. before anyone can offer any meaningful advice. The logistical/budgetary differences alone between public transport and a rental car covering those distances is a huge consideration.
Have fun with your research and good luck.
I travelled from New York to San Francisco last year over 8 weeks. If you need any tips do t hesitate to pm me.
