Is it possible to walk from Delhi to Goa?

If you have the time and inclination it's possible to walk almost anywhere, of course.

Delhi to Goa is a little less than 2,000 km on main roads (fairly difficult/dangerous/noisy/dusty/polluted to walk on) and I'd guess about 2,400 km on secondary roads with much less traffic.

Have fun.

well I am not very sure how much kms you will cover in a day but say approx 100 kms in a day so 20-22 days of walking...

and by walking I hope you meant by taking lift from trucks or other possible vehicles..

if its so than its gonna be a difficult call.... advice you to book your train up to maharashtra and from Maharashtra you get choices of bus taxis... etc or you may continue to walk...

Seems ur inspired by "keep walking by Johnnie Walker"

Hey, thanks guys.

I plan on travelling in March 2014. I will be travelling India, china, Singapore, Malaysia and Cambodia. I want to walk as much as possible. I haven't got a time limit, I've got all the time in the world. And yes terry, "Keep on walking" is quite inspiring :)

I'm curious... why did you ask the original question? Delhi and Goa are two major centres... there's obviously roads... it's simple to Google the route or look at it on Google Earth or simply buy a map...

Care to explain?

1767 km is the total distance from Delhi to Goa...

Go to and get the direction you will see its 1767 kms and time to cover by walking is 359 hrs...

So on an avg its 5 km/ hr, In 1971, Jim Gleeson walked 122.093 miles (196.490 km) in 24 hours..

probably he could beat that record, who knows..

Thanks again guys for more info, much appreciated.

Terry - I asked the original question in hope someone would reply who has done it and can give me some advice. Luckily I've heard of maps and I've also purchased one :)
