Hi,

I want to go to Peru next year for a couple of weeks and am wondering what the best time of year to go is?

Thx :)

"Best" is of course variable and up to personal interpretation. But June through August is high season. I tend to prefer should season, so I'd say May or September/October. (I've done May myself, and enjoyed most places being relatively crowd-free, and the hiking season in the Cordillera Blanca only barely starting up.)
December through March is the wet season, with the inca trail being closed for cleanup for all of February, so probably classifies as the worst time of the year to go - then again, a cloud-enshrouded and crowd-free Machu Picchu could be the highlight of a trip, and I think that time of year is also a good time for surfing in the north of Peru.

YMMV.

Hi itchyfeet2014,

Iam from Peru, about your question let me tell you that It depends on the place you want to visit ... I give you an example ... In Arequipa we have the best weather from March to November the same is in Cusco ... From December to February and March we have some rain ... however these months are the best time to go to the beach areas... You can visit Mancora or Lima... even to the Jungle like Iquitos. If you want to know something more about my country, I have a friend who works at a travel agency and Iam sure that she can help you with your doubts, you can get in touch with her at -snip- :)

[ Edit: Sorry, no promos please. ]

I went in early December and had brilliant weather every day. Same when I went onto Chile.

I would suggest you as far as my experience that you may go after march. But other side you have to see what the rest will be good for you. Thanks

Ok, thanks! I def don't want to go in wet season....

I think I'll go in May. I'm planning on doing Machu Picchu and then this new bus thing called Peruhop. If anybody knows more info on it or has done it, please let me know!

Peru can be visited all year around. However the peak season for visiting The Andean areas is between May and October. It can be rainy if you go outside this period
