With the Jetairways, the check in baggage would be in between 30-40 kg and not 7 kg.

7 kg would be cabin luggage and no one weighs your cabin luggage. I have been to Thailand by Air India, Thai Airways and Air Asia and have never faced any problem with respect to the weight of the luggage.

Hope it helps

I'm only taking carry on luggage that's what I'm on about, it states only 7kg only. I'm sure if I'm not taking checked in luggage they are bound to obviously be picky about my hand baggage.

To be honest I'm prob just going to fly with klm airways and have a baggage allowance of 12 kg.

hi bex76

is that as well as your checked in luggage or just carry on ? what airlines where they ?

Yes, even just flying with carry - on, and that's various airlines. In my experience they tend to go by size rather than weight anyway.

Do they charge separately for Check in luggage and cabin luggage?

I hope it won't be the case, even if they tell you that the bag you're carrying is Big, and you can't carry it in the cabin luggage than better put it in the check in luggage.

I always just take carry on. You only really need about 4 or 5 shirts and 2 pants. I just get them washed every couple of days.
Take bare minimum toiletries and medications. You can always buy what you need once you are there.

Just 1 pair of underwear will get you through 4 days.
1. front ways
2. backwards
3. inside out front ways
4. inside out backwards

I think the main thing is to plan on washing your own clothes a lot. So you cut down your clothing to the bare minimum.

I have had carry-on weighed a few times on flights and they weren't budget airlines. it was Virgin or Qantas. It doesn't happen very often though and that was a few years back.

You might this video by a friend of ours, Tim Richards, showing how he packs everything into one bag.

In regard to post 11, I had my hand luggage weighed by Volaris when I took my recent trip to Mexico in June (15 kilos limit). When told I would have to fork out an additional $30 for my overage, I told them I would go put it in my car (I was at an airport where parking , was located near the check-in counters) and return. Then, instead of going to the parking lot, I did exactly as mentioned in post 4 (took most of the heavy stuff out and put it on to wear, for example my jacket and some stuff to go in my pockets), then came back in 5 minutes and had my pack weighed (no overage charge this time) and went through security, then once I was past security, I took the jacket and stuff out of my pockets and put them back in the carry-on bag.

I think it is just a scheme for the airline to make extra money at the boarding gate. Seemed like it anyway, as they spent far more time weighing luggage as opposed to checking people through or expediting the boarding process. I noticed they didn't weigh any of my luggage in Guadalajara upon my return;--only in the US when I left.

P.S. I notice that Volaris has completely changed their luggage charge policy to make it more lenient;--probably as a result of the bad press or complaints they were getting from their customers about this part of their service.

If you plan only to take hand luggage, it is best to keep around 7 kg. Please note the limit for liquid item on hand carry.

Just pack your summer clothing and a pair or 2 long light pant for formal occasion such as visiting temple/palace or else you will end up spending more "renting" sarong cover.

Check your airline, some time, price already include check in luggage, regardless if you have any check-in item or not.
