I will be in Malaysia for barely a week. Yes, I know it's not nearly long enough! But, I've never been before, so I am really looking forward to it. I've read tons of travel books, but since I'll be there for just a short time, I'd like to know what the absolute "do-not-miss" items are. Please help!
KL = 2 full days (1 night)
Kuching = 5 full days
KL 2 days...... maybe you should do a city tour. If not, make sure you go to China town, little India, Twin Towers, maybe go up Menara Tower to the observation deck. If you like shopping then go to Bukit Bintang area.
Do a trip out to Batu Caves, 12 km away, can go by bus or taxi.
If you like museums, go the National HIstory museum at Merdeka Sq near Chinatown, the museum is quite small so you can see it without getting bored, and it gives a good history of M'sia.
Kuching - go to Bako National Pk, preferably overnight if you have time. If you like nature and trekking you can easily spend longer there. Go to the cultural village at Santubong.
Explore Kuching town, waterfront etc.
There are lots of tour companies in Kuching running tours, maybe you will see something you like. eg. go to a longhouse.
Hope this helps,
Try the local food, you won't regret it.
if you sees lots of people milling around a food stall, and its something that is freshly cooked, like noodles fried on the spot-go for it!
Thanks everyone! I really appreciate your advice!
If you where in Kuching, The best place that you can't miss are the Bako National Park.
