Hi,

I would be going over to London soon and would like to know if my savings of GBP5000 can last me for 6months or even more.

Could you folks (who's already in London) share with me what's the average living expense (excluding Rental) there??

Thx
Cindy

Hi Cindy,

i don't live in London but i can give you a few guidelines. £5000 in 6 months can be done if you're excluding accommodation. If you're self catering in house/apartment you can do a decent weekly food shop for £30. Unleaded fuel is around 80 pence a litre. Eating out will can cost from £5 upwards. A Big Mac meal is about £3.50. A pint of lager is about £2.50 upwards. Small coke will cost you £1 in most pubs/restaurants. Obviously i can't list prices for everything, but London is more expensive than anywhere else. If you need to know anything specifically just ask. But, if you're not including accom. then i think you will be able to manage on £5k in 6 months. A night out on the town might cost £30/40 for a few drinks and a taxi, add some more to that if you go clubbing and drink loads (probably about £60 or more). As with anywhere though, you can find bargains if you look (wetherspoons pubs are very cheap for example).

Hi Dave,

Thanks for the guidelines.

At least I've a general idea of how long I can survive in London.

Cheers,
Cindy
