Hey Guys and Gals,

Im heading to Morocco for about a month at Christmas, flying into Fes and taking it from there,
i just want get some opinions on whether i should pre book accommodation or not i usually don't bother
but i don't want to get stuck with over priced rooms. Is it easy enough to pick up somewhere reasonable
even at peak periods? Any feedback/advise is much appreciated.

Cheers Andy

Hey Andy,

I spent 3 weeks in Morocco last April and had booked accommodation only for the first week (Marrakech, Essaouira). Afterwards i visited Ouzoud, Ouarzazate region, Merzouga desert, Meknes & Fes (alternating couchsurfing, with a festival stay and hostels/cheap hotels stay).

For me it was very easy to find cheap accommodation (6-10€) in Fez and Meknes (but i had written some addresses before). It was totally ok for my standards, but if you want something comfortable/really clean you'll have to spend more. Outside the big cities cheap accommodation is less widespread and you should probably book to be sure you get what you want. Also take in consideration that arriving in any moroccan city and finding your way inside a labyrinth of streets is a huge challenge, and you'd probably spend a lot of time trying to find a place if you don't have an address to look for.

Wish you a happy travel, Morocco is a magical place!

Hey thanks for the reply,

my expectations are not high at all, all i require is bed,
shared washing facilities are fine by me.
Looks like i'll just wing it, however good advice on noting down a couple of addresses ,
thats something i will do.

Thanks again Andy
