Hey

im a solo traveller and I want to visit either Sumatra or Borneo before I move onto Australia. Just after some advice on which is the best to visit? The wildlife is my main agenda!

Thanks :)

I know you want to visit one of the two stated destinations but I think Sabah may offer more wild life that both of these.

If you have to pick one however, Sumatra may be a better overall destination.

Hope this helps, & have a good trip. :)

I don't get it: Sabah IS part of Borneo. Albeit Malaysian part, but that's irrelevant.

Sumatra i went in 2010 stayed in a local blokes house with his family right on a rice field an the kids 6 an 8 i believe showed me more wildlife in there rice paddy home than i could of on my own in a tropical jungle lol but saying that i have never been to borneo myself but also sumatran people in general are so kind well apart from the grumpy airport security but you only see them once

We were in Borneo last year, Sarawak, Brunei and Sabah, and saw loads of wildlife. Scorpions, proboscis monkeys, silver Langur and red Langur monkeys, orang utans, hornbills, a moon rat, stick insects, snakes, frogs, wild boar and just missed out on pygmy elephants and crocodiles. Bako, Mulu, Mount Kinabalu and the Kinabatangan River. I've not been to Sumatra yet but it'll have to be good to beat Borneo.:)

We also asked this on our Facebook page and the general advice was also to go for Borneo.

Have a great trip!
