Hi!!

So I get to Sydney jan 30th on a years WHV. I am looking to do some fruit picking / farm work ASAP to gain my 2nd years visa, so then it's done and out the way and don't have to worry about it at a later date.

Don't mind where in the country I go for this, but I'll be heading back to Sydney after to find work. I'm a nurse and I work hard, play hard, so will be finding a houseshare when back in Sydney, to have some fun times.

I'm 28 and have done quite a bit of travelling before but never staying in one place for such a long time by myself, so I'm Looking for like minded people who want to join me for the farm work, or sydney, or both!

Please get in touch!
Rhiannon :o)

Hi Natalie!

Are you going to be doing it straight away when you arrive in march or are you travelling for a bit first?

Hey Rhiannon!

I'm Matthew, 25 from Ireland. Can't believe I've found your thread on here. You've just read my mind. This is exactly what I want to do. Work is my main reason for wanting to go over to Oz, because I've been unemployed here in Ireland for a number of years. Then once I've earned a bit of money, I'll look to do a bit of travelling.

I definitely want to do the 3 months fruit picking first so that I am guaranteed a 2nd Year (This will become clear soon). I also want to go back to Sydney and look for more long-term work and I definitely want to do a house share. Hostels are ok but I would like to have my own personal space. I'm still in shock that I've found someone who has similar plans to me.

I actually started my Oz adventure back in September in Sydney but had a bad experience and came home after a few weeks. I've decided now to give it one more try and have planned to go late Jan/early Feb. I'll only have 7 months left on the visa but hey I'm going to have to make the most of it. I haven't booked any flights or accommodation yet. Will start looking into that soon. Have u accommodation booked for when you arrive? Would really like to discuss more with you.

Matthew

Hey! I'm currently in Brisbane working, and I'm thinking of doing fruit picking so that I can apply for the second year visa. I was thinking of doing towards the end of Feb/ beginning of March, but it would be great finding some other people who want to do it as well during the same time :)

Ahh it's so good to hear people wanna do the same thing!

Rebekahk- id be up for doing it around march too if that's when you can, I'm pretty flexible, I'd spend a few weeks in Sydney, then make my way up to Brisbane. What u doing for work at the mo?

Matthew- sounds like you've had a mental time! I haven't booked a hostel yet- just flights, as I didn't know how long I'd be in Sydney for at first.

I've found a couple of websites for the fruit picking jobs but most of them are to start ASAP so we probably wont be able to find anything till nearer the time.

Keep me posted on your plans Rhiannon. Like what hostel you book and that. I really would like to travel with you as we have similar plans it seems.

I'm doing as much research as possible at the moment. Looking back to my time there in September, I now realise that I hadn't done enough preparation. It was my very first time abroad and I just panicked. I'm now making sure I know as much as possible about living and working in Oz. I really want it to work this time. From what I saw in those few weeks, it's a beautiful place to live and work.
