Kindly help with hotels and transport. budget: aprrox 60 usd for 2. i like quite hotels. siam reap may be in a colonial building? is there a train running all the way from bkk to sin? no, please not the oriental express! transport from sgn to siam reap? no train i assume? transport siam reap to bkk? only bus or plane i assume? all info would be very much appreciated! thks a lot in advance! :-)
One of the hotels I have stayed in, in Siem Reap was the Arboretum. That was OK, within easy walking distance of the main area, and not too expensive.
There is a train from Bangkok (main station on Rama 4, last station on MRT) to Singapore, but it is a long trip with uninteresting views throughout. A quick AirAsia flight is better, and about the same price.
Flight Siem Reap to Bangkok. You can go overland but it is a long way.
Book flights in advance.
I agree with 'cyberia' on the BKK to SIN leg. Fly it. Many airlines & times to pick from. Air Asia is usually your best option. Here is a great resource for all things Cambodia. VN Air flies from SGN to REP. I would go overland from Siem Reap to BKK. BKK Airlines flies this route, but it is expensive. Read about the overland route and then chat with other visitors once in SR. Decide once there. Now that the road is paved, it is not so bad.
Good luck with your planning.
