Wondered if anyone could give me any tips or advice about having any possible travel insurance. I'm in the uk now and am going to Australia on a years working visa, should I purchase any travel insurance or chance my luck? Can you even get insurance to last you a year whilst travelling all around? Any advice would be great! Thanks guys :)

Regular travel insurance only covers for you trips of up to 3 (sometimes 6) months, but there's specific backpacker insurance which covers long term travel, yes. Travellerspoint has a partnership with World Nomads, which offers this, but there's many different companies offering similar deals.
As a UK citizen, you are covered for basic immediately necessary health insurance while in Australia (through medicare), but it's still generally advisable to have travel insurance beyond that.
