After the ramble I posted earlier today about whether I should get a Thai tourist visa or not, I have decided not to bother getting one and instead just book an outward journey from Thailand so I won't get denied entry.
I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations about what country to visit after Thailand? I want to visit Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam, spending around a month in each place. (I'm also going to Malaysia, but am going there last as my flight to Australia is from there.) I was thinking a flight to Cambodia, but would be interested to hear other people's recommendations.
Thai Immigration can ask for an onward ticket, but they usually don't. If you still feel you need an air ticket out, I suggest Air Asia flight to PNH. Cheap and you are going to visit Cambodia anyway. Or fly into HAN and work your way back to Tland overland. That would be my suggestion. That way you avoid backtracking. If you fly into VN, you can buy a VN visa on arrival online. My blog covers my experience flying into SGN. Price has changed, now $45 stamping fee instead of $25. Very straight forward and usually cheaper than buying it in your home country. If you choose to visit Cambodia or Laos first, buy your VN visa while in PP or Vientiane. Here is a good resource for all things Cambodia.
Good luck with your planning.
