I have a 39000 mile Star Alliance RTW Ticket. As much as I understand it you have to return to the same country (not sure if it is as specific as the city) within 12 months of your departure date.
What I am doing is leaving Brisbane (Australia) on May 27 and have plotted a route through South-East Asia, India, Egypt then end up in Frankfurt around early May next year. The travel agent has booked me on a flight back to Brisbane (Frankfurt, Los Angeles, Auckland, Brisbane) to arrive May 26th 2006. I'm not actually planning on returning to Oz next year so I'm going to forfeit the flights after Frankfurt. According to the travel agent, this RTW ticket will be cheaper than buying individual tickets for every flight.
- All flights after the departure can be changed (giving 24 hours notice directly to the airline that you are booked on).
- There are a limited amount of flights you can take - not sure how many - possibly about 15 to 18 stops.
- And of course, I can only go 39000 miles - counting the Frankfurt to Brisbane route back.
- The cost of this ticket was $4500 AUD
