Im Mike 20 going in september going with one of my mates
haven't planned for much really yet i think i am going to start at Cairns,
and then go from there really looking at buying my backpack this month
and then in few months ill apply for my whv thinking of taking 4000 spending money
(have to have 3000) to get in.. worried about my return flight if i dont find work and not having
the money to come back with really hopefully can get some work, not specific anything really
hopefully meet up with some of u when im out there
Yeh fruit picking is one i think its one of the main ones people go for. There is a harvest trail which i found on a website so you could do fruit picking all year while travelling around :-)
I didnt realise you could get a 23month visa for nz that could be handy :-)
I have been advised to travel as light as possible so was just going to use my bug hiking backpack which i usually use for festivals and then just a day ruck sack and just take what ever i can fit in there and will have to get anything i cant fit while im travelling
Sounds like a good plan :-) How long you looking to travel for? you thinking of going anywhere else other than aus?
I have just brought a one way ticket and then will be leaving enough money back home for when i have to come back home so then i dont have a fixed date and stay as long as i can :-) I think fruit picking is the easiest job to get if u need money (i am only going by what i have read) and there is a website which shows you where in aus the fruit is in season to be picked so might be worth having a look at that :-)
Good luck on your travels and if your in an area where i am in aus would be good to meet :-)
Tom161191, for your reference the 'specified work in regional Australia' includes the following industries:
- plant and animal cultivation
- fishing and pearling
- tree farming and felling
Fruit picking is just the one that everyone knows and thinks is easy but you could help rebuild a town after a natural disaster and it would be included.
Check out some of the other possibilities here – click Visa applicants tab and then Specified Work. Also, you can work absolutely anywhere in three states and some regional areas are, for example, only an hour from Melbourne. Just click Regional areas under the Visa applicants tab.
Cheers kellie will look into it ,
And yeah Jodie I have aswell I'm just confused about what and how much to take ha, what's rang website that you had found ?
When are you looking to head out this year?
If you go to this link http://jobsearch.gov.au/harvesttrail/ and scroll down until u get to 'Download the national harvest guide' and it will be a guide of all of australia where is good to fruit pick and when :-)
Thank you Jodie that seems pretty useful
Kmwain i am thinking back end of year maybe September October ?
I'm looking at December/ Jan. A fair way off yet, but I guess I need the time to be in the best financial position to be able to do it. x
I'm thinking of going travelling to Australia this year it will be my first time ever travelling
I have a load of money saved up ready. So all I need to do really is get my Working Holiday Visa.
And book my flight. And buy all the other bits I may need like backpack etc etc
I haven't got a plan yet. But I kinda would like to meet people out there and travel and work
Along side them. I do like the sound of a group of you getting a camper van and travelling
Around and working that way??
Anyone else have that sort of idea?
How long does it take to get your Working Holiday Visa?
And is anyone thinking of going anytime soon like in the next couple of months?
