Understanding Train Info

Travel Forums Europe Understanding Train Info

I have been planning a trip through Poland, Hungary, Croatia, Austria, and Czech Republic. AirBnB has been great as well as hostels. The tough part I am having has been the transportation. I am looking at getting the Eastern Europe Rail Pass as the the cost seems to be cheaper than booking separate legs of the journey.

However, I was just reading on a Rick Steves board that Poland is not accepting the pass. Is this correct for 2014? Also, TravellersPoint has all transport search options linked to DB rail. Is there a good way to pick the trains ahead of time, a good planner tool? Because this will be the first time my wife is joining me on a trip like this I am leaning towards a 1st class pass, for a little more room and ease with backpacks. I already have her training walking two to four miles a day with it to make sure we are ready. Oh yes, I am walking too.

Any advice would be helpful.

Hi again.

I was just browsing that site & see you can contact the owner. Why not write him your question about the pass being acceptable in Poland?
He seems to love trains.

I spent most of June traveling around Switzerland with the Swiss pass. Train, Bus, Ferry. Discounts on cable cars.
There might be a five minute window between connections & you still make it.
