No, they don't need to become members to view your map or blog. You can just give them the URLs http://cvclyons.travellerspoint.com/ (blog) or http://www.travellerspoint.com/member_map.cfm?user=Cvclyons (map) or http://www.travellerspoint.com/photos/gallery/users/Cvclyons/ (pictures), and they can read everything in there.
You can also embed your map on the blog (there's a setting for that in your blog preferences), or just link to the map from your blog - and your latest photos automatically show up in the sidebar of your blog, so they'll really only need to remember the blog's URL.

Ordinarily you need to be a member of travellerspoint to be able to comment on a blog post (this is to prevent spam), but if you want, you can change that setting, and allow everyone to post comments. Your friends can also "subscribe" to your blog (following the link for that in your blog's sidebar), which will make them receive an email every time you post a new blog entry. Or you can automatically have your blog entries posted to your facebook "wall" (I think that's the thing; I don't use facebook myself, so don't know exactly what this means). :)

You can also send them a link directly to your profile. All your content on Travellerspoint is linked from there.

Quoting Sander

.......or just link to the map from your blog .....). :)

Hi,

It took me a while to figure out how that worked.

So - this might save you a little time...

Go to your map.
Click on one of your stops. Usually, the first. Heathrow for you.
Put in your date of arrival.
When you have your blog entry, right at the bottom, enter the same date in ‘Describes Travel From..’

That forms a link between your map & your blog entry and an entry like this 'View 2011 H&A - RED SEA TO ATHENS on hasbeen's travel map' will appear at the top of your blog entry.

Your friends then click the link to see your map. Very cute.

Incidentally, your blog will also show as a link on your map. Unfortunately, looking at the blog from the map does not give the ‘real’ blog view & I would not recommend getting to your blog from there.

Hope this helps.

Steve
