I left in September to travel all around Asia, and so far I have been to India, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore and am currently in Indonesia.

I really struggled with how to plan it and I have been so surprised by what I actually needed and what places I loved when I thought I would prefer others.

I have put loads of tips and bits on my blog about theplaces ad stuff like what to pack.

it is called:

and its on blogspot. for some reason I cant post the link.

but hopefully you may find stuff thats helpful here.

let me know if I can help with anything else.

Hiya, I wondered if you were looking for a travel buddy? I found people on this site to go with last year to Thailand, and I'm looking at going to Cambodia and Vietnam this summer xx

for some reason I cant post the link.

The reason you can't post the link is that it is against the forum rules.

Since signing up each of your posts has been used to direct members to look at your blog. That is purely promotional behaviour which is not accepted here. Thus far these posts have simply been edited and a link to the forum rules provided, however, future posts will be removed.

If you have helpful information to share with other members, please share it in the forums.

Suggestion for you: Viet Nam, to have a full view of Vietnam will take about 1 month (Ha Noi - Sapa - Ha Long - Ninh Binh - Phong Nha Cave - Thien Duong Cave - Hue - Hoi An - Da Nang - Nha Trang - Da Lat - Sai Gon - Cu Chi Tunnels - Mekong delta). The remaining time you can explore: Cambodia, Laos, Thailand,..

While traveling Asia, don't forget to travel to Nepal too. See the world's highest mountains including the Everest, go for the bungy jump, trek. climb peaks, raft, tour the mystical and magical Kathmandu, wildlife safari and many more...

OK - without knowing anything about you, a first plan could be to fly into Kuala Lumpur and work your way overland up Malaysia and into Thailand (Cha-Am, Bangkok, Chiang Mai) then across to Chiang Khong and get the slow boat doen the Mekong to Luang Prabang in Laos, up to Sam Neua, across the northern border to Hanoi in Vietnam (Halong Bay, Sapa) and work down the coast to Saigon (Hue, Nha Trang, Hoi An) then across into Cambodia (Phnom Penh, Siem Reap) and then back to Bangkok to fly out. This can be done in as little as five weeks or, at a more leisurely pace, five months with plenty of other stops on the way.

Just a suggestion to get you started - enjoy planning and, more importantly, enjoy your trip.

Borisborough - thank you for this advice, I haven't heard of half of these places but having had a look they look amazing! Thank you so much! x

You could go first to Indonesia in August. You can visit Java and some other Islands. I recommand Sulawesi and Jogjakarta area. I have been there in July: some heavy but short rains and rather good weather in general. And by the way, I also do recommand Bali.

Then after a stop in Kuala Lumpour, visit Vietnam from North to South (or from South to North ;)) and when the temperature decreases, you can go in continental SE Asia. Laos and Cambodia are fine in November.

I do not know about Thailand and Burma but I think you should also wait lesser temperatures to go there.

Enjoy your nice trip

Alain - thank you for this! I'm just nervous about Bali because you hear so many horror stories with the drugs and food poisoning! That's probably just me being a hypochondriac to be honest! It looks like I won't get to Asia til about November anyway so hopefully the weather will stay nice?
