At the risk of being pedantic, i feel that 'Threads you posted in' and 'Recent active threads you posted in' are placed over the wrong columns. They need to be switched around.

Those two changes are now live.

So if you see a number next to a thread, it means there's been a new post since you last visited.

When you say "since you last visited", does that mean since you last visited that particular thread, or when you last visited the site?

Since you last visited that particular thread and saw the last post in that thread.

....
I asked for clarification, and got this reponse:

Is it finding back the conversations you're in, or seeing when there's new activity in those conversations, or...?

Sander... It is exactly that.

I never know when people have responded and then struggle to find the people who are in a similar position to myself to chat to :)

....

Can notification of a post to a subscribed thread currently be received on a phone as a text message?

We're not going to be sending SMS's to notify of new posts - that could get rather pricey.

You can of course set up your email on most phones these days and be notified that way.

Well folks, say hello to a new improved, responsive forum! I'm sure there's quirks to work out, but hopefully it is a good start.

woaw...

Initial impressions: I like the use of icons, particularly the hourglass "time since", though the click-target there is awfully small now (and I use that particular link all the time. Maybe removing some padding from the div, and add it to the link, and also add some horizontal padding. Really - I'm overshooting the link now.

I don't like the smaller font / changed white-space per row. (Wait, weren't there arguments against bigger fonts last time around? Guess I got used to them. :P )

I like the new pagination, but think you need more white-space before the "last post" link (when on the last page) - it's quite flush against the last page number now without that arrow in between.

The moderator "move to forum" selectbox is taking up 100% width, pushing the "move" button to the next line (might always have been the case?), but without any white-space in between.

Uncertain if the grey moderator "delete" icon is clear enough. I guess it has a confirmation page in between, but still.

Responsiveness: Between 790 and 768px, the travel planner promo and "Discuss your travel plans with fellow travellers around the world." text fall off the screen. Might be 'problematic' for some people on a netbook with a browser sidebar showing? Okay, I know, it's a stretch... *g*

Looking good.

My suggestions....

On page = Travel Forums.

I think terminology should be consistent so, change the title to ‘All Forums’ or ‘All Threads’. Either way, it should match the wording for that page in ‘Jump to’ that is in all the other forum pages.

I don’t think there are enough posts in ‘off topics’ to warrant so prominent a position for ‘Hide Off Topic Threads’.
Substitute a ‘filter button’ for all the other forums, or switch it with my next comment below, or just remove it,

Move ‘Please read the Forum Rules’ etc... from the bottom of the page to underneath the title.

And there I was, enjoying the return to a smaller font...and it's been changed back to BIG again.

Sorry for the back and forth on the font size -- it wasn't meant to be reduced. And in fact on a mobile it is now clearly better at the larger size in my opinion.

Aside from the font size fix/change, the following fixes just went up

  • last page link fixed.
  • move to forum button fixed
  • moderator delete button given a bit more room
  • unsubscribe link back in place
  • reply link back down the bottom instead of top right.
  • "hide off topic threads" link now moved to bottom instead of prominent position at top
  • ad for planner removed for now due to breaking responsiveness (+ it's not new anymore anyway)
  • text at top of right column now also doesn't break the responsiveness
