I hope that those of you who have visited any of the "Seven Wonders of the World" will post on the thread by wizzkid. (It's only fair.)

Outside of those - what do you consider to be the "new" wonders of the world - natural or manmade?

I had to look it up because I had never heard of the new 7 wonders....
(don't ask me why there are 8 in the second batch?)
I don't agree with the second list either...a building is a wonder??

from National Geographic website:

The Seven Wonders of the Middle Ages:
Roman Colosseum - Department of Geology University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
The Colosseum of Rome
The Catacombs of Alexandria
The Great Wall of China
Hagia Sophia of Constantinople
Stonehenge
The Porcelain Pagoda of Nanjing

The Seven Wonders of Today:
(compiled in 1931 after the completion of the Empire State Building):

Taj Mahal - India
The Great Pyramids (Egypt)
Hagia Sophia (Turkey)
Leaning Tower of Pisa (Italy)
Washington Monument (U.S.)
Eiffel Tower (France)
Taj Mahal (India)
Empire State Building (U.S.)

Good Point!
I just think there is a difference between skyscrappers (that are going up left and right) and one of the remnants of ancient Rome. Maybe in a thousand years they can make some of the tall office buildings in NY a wonder...

A new project in Dubai will beat anything in NY hands down. Check this out - looks amazing.
