Vina del Mar
Vina del Mar is Chile's premier beach resort and is located along the coast of the Pacific Ocean in central Chile. It's part of Greater Valparaiso which is the third biggest metropolitan area in the country. Vina del Mar itself, after Valparaiso, is the fourth largest city in Chile with around 300,000 inhabitants.

Gisela and Carlos are wonderful, honest and decent people. They know very well managing the hostel. Always clean, beautiful garden and breakfast is a surprise. When you arrive they give you a map and show you all the points of interest and also supermarkets and restaurants where you can eat for a very reasonable price. We love being with them. ... more

Hospedajes Mirta was a real find. The location was very conventient and an easy walk to everyplace in Vina. It is also close to a metro stop. Mirta and Jacqueline were incredibly warm, friendly, and helpful. Mirta has a beautiful patio garden and there is access to a rooftop patio. Breakfasts were fabulous. ... more

We stayed at Little Castle in January this year and we had a really good time! The location of little Castle is perfect. Near the city and the beach. Patricio (the owner) is great. As far as I am understanding, you haven't booked any flights yet? I would do a loop from Lima, going to southern Peru, into Bolivia, northwest and west of Argentina, over to Valparaiso/Vina del Mar and than indeed north to San Pedro and other places in northern Chile.
