Very helpful and accurate description of how to get here, cost, etc (although the taxi driver managed to stuff things. When we did arrive we were warmly greeted and treated as friends. Rooms were really nice- comfortable and clean with a homely atmostphere. And the mattresses are heavenly after 3 days travelling. Your host, Marco, really knows his way around lima (as well as peru) and is more than happy to guide you around. His english is also very impressive. He printed off maps with his favourite restaurants and, after talking to us about what we wanted out of Lima, he recommended certain areas and things to try. We wanted to avoid the main tourist areas and we were given exactly that but the good location allows you to explore miraflores and those areas too -which Marco also knows everything about. It is obvious he loves accomodating internationals and his enthusiasm is really catching. After a night of making us his favourite cocktails to drink with his friends, he made us a delicious peruvian breakfast with authentic coffee, local butters and jams and freshly squeezed orange juice. Then (knowing no spanish at all) we convinced him to join us for the day. He (tried to) teach us how to catch buses and translated for us, showing us the sites we most wanted to see, as well as introducing us to the amazing local foods at both markets and a century old pub. All-in-all a great stay, we are definitely coming back and would recommend it to anyone.
