L'auberge de jeunesse Pousada Favelinha se trouve sur une colline au coeur de Rio de Janeiro, entre les quartiers de Laranjeiras et de Santa Teresa. Elle est située dans une favela, l'un des nombreux quartiers « pauvres » de Rio. Toutefois, vous trouverez sur place une véritable richesse culturelle, et l'endroit est très sûr. C'est le premier hébergement de ce type. La favela compte environ 3 000 habitants et tous vous accueilleront chaleureusement. Vous vous ferez ainsi de nombreux amis parmi eux et les autres routards. Toutes les chambres sont dotées d'un balcon avec hamac, qui jouit d'une vue magnifique. Les chambres possèdent une salle de bains privative, et un petit-déjeuner tropical copieux est compris. L'auberge de jeunesse dispose d'un grand salon et d'une terrasse située sur le toit (de 120 m²). Il n'y a aucune circulation automobile à proximité, et les colibris ou le coq sont la seule chose que vous entendrez le matin. Cependant, vous ne serez qu'à cinq minutes à pied de la station de métro la plus proche, Largo do Machado, depuis laquelle vous pourrez rejoindre la plage de Copacabana, ou encore du téléphérique historique qui traverse le superbe quartier de Santa Teresa et vous emmène au centre de Rio.
