Travel Guide > Australia > Queensland > Airlie Beach
An eastcoast backpacking mecca, Airlie Beach is a sunny and bustling resort and the starting point for sailing tours of the beautiful Whitsunday Islands. There's not a lot to do in Airlie Beach itself other than swim, sunbathe and party.
There's no shortage of budget accommodation here, with hostels lined up along the main drag ranging from the cheap and cheerful Magnums to the slightly more comfortable Airlie Beach Backpackers. Most of the hostels have bars where the partying lasts well into the night.
