Travel Guide > Europe > Italy > Brindisi
Brindisi is an Italian city, located in the 'heel' of the country in the region of Apulia. It is the capital of the province of Brindisi and has about 100,000 inhabitants. Although it is an ancient city, nowadays it also functions as a major port with connections to the southeastern part of Europe.
Brindisi has a typical Mediterranena climate with warm summers and mild but wetter winters. Temperatures during summer (June to September) are around 30 degrees Celsius, and around 20 at night. Winters last from December to February and average around 14 degrees during the day and around 8 degrees at night. This is when most of the rain falls, though summers can see some heavy rain showers now and then.
Occasionally, temperatures drop to around zero at night in winter while hot summer days up to 40 degrees are not unheard of.
