Travel Guide South America Peru Lima Eating Out in Lima Café del Museo
Located in the Pueblo Libre district, the Café del Museo has become one of Lima’s tastiest places to eat. The Café del Museo beneficiates from the wonderful setting of the Larco Museum, the most important museum in Peru. The museum displays the biggest and finest private collection of pre-Columbian art in the world (the storage area can be visited) and has an important erotic gallery that has become one of the most visited tourist attractions. Note that you don’t have to visit the Larco Museum to have a drink or to eat in the Café del Museo. Although it is part of the museum complex, the Café is independent.
The Café del Museo is surrounded by a colorful garden full of all different kinds of flowers and that won the prize of the the prettiest gardens in Lima in 2009. Bougainvilleas, geraniums, ivy, orchids, and the typical Peruvian Madre Selva will accompany the smell of your delicious meal. It has a beautiful terrace with comfortable cushioned benches and seats decorated with elegant and refined white tablecloths. Inside the Café, the setting looks like a work of art itself, it was designed by the famous Peruvian architect Jordi Puig.
