Travel Guide Caribbean United States Virgin Islands Saint Croix Christiansted
Christiansted is the capital of Saint Croix, the southernmost and largest of the United States Virgin Islands. It's name goes back to the colonial times, when the Danish ruled much of the US Virgin Islands, including St. Croix.
Henry E. Rohlsen Airport (STX) is the main gateway and a short drive from the capital. Destinations include Miami, Atlanta, Saint Thomas, San Juan, Anguilla, Nevis, Dominica, Saint Barths, Sint Eustatius, Sint Maarten and Charlotte.
The ferry between Christiansted, St. Croix and Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas has been suspended until further notice.
The ferry usually departs from the Marine Terminals in Gallows Bay on St. Croix and in Charlotte Amalie on St. Thomas, taking about 75 minutes to travel between the two towns. Check the Virgin Island Fast Ferry website for details about prices and schedules.
