Introduction
Damaraland is the name of a region in the northwest of Namibia. It is sparsely populated and has some fantastic landscapes. It's an arid region with few villages.
Geography
Damaraland is the old apartheid name given to the region south of the Kaokoveld and north of the main road to Swakopmund. It extends 200 kilometres inland from the desolate Skeleton Coast and 600 kilometres southwards from Kaokoveld.

- The Brandberg - Namibia's highest mountain
- Twyfelfontein - rocky region with thousands of Bushman engravings.
- Spitzkoppe - place of great mystery to the ancient San people
- The Petrified Forest - millions of years old.
- The Vingerklip (finger rock) - a towering finger of limestone that rises 35 metres above its base.
