Geography

Jura has a frontier with the Swiss Jura and has picturesque mountains. Doubs, which contains the capital of Franche Comté is an area where beautiful rivers predominate.

  • Besançon - Doubs - capital - fine walk up to the Citadelle at the top.
  • Arc-et-Senans
  • Baume-les-Dames
  • Baume-les-Messieurs - near Cirque de Baume (see below), it has an interesting abbey open to the public.
  • Rennes-sur-Loue
  • Ornans
  • Belfort
  • Dole
  • Lons-le-Saunier
  • Montbéliard
  • Vesoul

  • Cirque de Baume - this is probably the best of all.
