Travel Guide Asia Thailand South Thailand Ko Tao Hat Sai Daeng
Hat Sai Daeng is a gorgeous, secluded cove on the southern end of Koh Tao - a true island paradise. After a bumpy ride from the town, your vehicle turns onto the steep entrance to this beach. For a moment, you wonder if you're actually on a roller coaster. The road is THAT steep! But your eyes sweep upwards and out on the breathtaking view - deep blue water, soaring palms, and Shark Island just offshore. If you're looking for a private place to relax, read a book, and snorkel right off the beach, then Hat Sai Daeng is an ideal choice.
There are only two resorts on this beach: Coral View Resort and Haad Sai Daeng Resort. Both resorts rent diving and snorkeling gear. They also offer diving classes and diving and snorkeling trips.
Call ahead and Coral View Resort will pick you up at the boat dock in Mae Haad.
Coral View Resort also has a longtail boat that serves as a taxi to and from Mae Haad.
Both resorts on the beach have very good restaurants. The Coral View Resort restaurant sits up high on the hill with a stunning view of Shark Island, the beach, and the water. The Haad Sai Daeng Resort restaurant is right on the beach, with tables sitting in the sand. Prices are moderate.
Alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages are available at both resorts. Coral View Resort has a separate bar just below its restaurant where you can relax on a large deck overlooking the water.
There are two resorts on this beach, both mostly bungalow-style: Coral View Resort and Haad Sai Daeng Resort. Both have good restaurants.
