The Blue Mosque, or Sultan Ahmed Mosque, is the national mosque of Turkey and a popular tourist attraction in Istanbul. It was completed in 1616 during the reign of Sultan Ahmed 1.
The mosque is open throughout the day and night. It is closed for visitors during prayer hours. Only people who will be praying are allowed inside. Prayers take 10 minutes to 1 hour depending on the time of the day. The prayer times also change throughout the year depending on the times of sunrise and sunset.
