Located on the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia, Kuala Terengganu is the capital of the state of Terengganu. It's popular with travellers in Malaysia, if only because Kuala Terengganu's Sultan Mahmud Airport (IATA:TGG) is the main arrival point for travellers heading to either the Perhentian Islands or Redang Island. There are several daily flights from Kuala Lumpur and a few times a week from Singapore.
From the airport travellers find their way to the jetty at Merang (for most resorts on Redang Island), the central Shahbandar Jetty (for the Berjaya Redang Resort) or Kuala Besut (for the Perhentian Islands).
Weather is tropical with daytime temperatures mostly around or slighly above 30 °C and nights still mostly above 20 °C. From November to March, the monsoon brings torrential rains and much of the tourism related activities, including hotels, are closed. The rest of the year, there are only occasional showers, but it's mostly sunny and dry.
From Sultan Mahmud Airport (TGG) there are currently flights to Kuala Lumpur with Malaysia Airlines and Air Asia and to Singapore with Fireflyz.
