Introduction

Mir is a small town located about 120 kilometres away from Minsk that can be reached by bus or car. It is renowned in Belarus and abroad for being a location of one of the four UNESCO World Heritage sites in the republic - Mir Castle. The renovated castle that was founded in the early 16th century offers a vast museum, including Jewish ghetto exhibition and also features a solid restaurant and hotel complex in the basement.

The Jewish heritage of Mir that includes the world-famous yeshiva (currently the local post office) is in the center of Mir, only a mile or so away from the castle. The buildings are delapidated and will not be a highlight of the tour. Also in central square of Mir there are two churches, a bus stop and a budget local hotel where you can stay overnight.
