Introduction
Moneragala District is one of the poorest yet largest districts in Sri Lanka. With Ampara to its east and Hambantota to its south, it is located in the dry zone area of Sri Lanka and has access to very few infrastructure facilities and basic living requirements such as water, food and shelter. Thanamalwila, Wellawaya are two of the 11 divisional secretariat divisions of the district.

- In Bibile, enroute to Colombo from Ampara, there is a small stall by the roadside, a typical 'gamei kade' (village shop) which sells delicious and hot rotis and ginger tea. Absolutely delicious fare.
