Travel Guide Oceania Australia Queensland Sunshine Coast Noosa
Noosa, or Noosa Heads, is a town about 140 kilometres north of Brisbane along Queensland's Sunshine Coast and has just under 4,000 inhabitants.
Noosa mostly refers to the entire area, with Noosa Heads just being part of it, and Noosaville and Noosa Junction being the other two. The northern boundary is the Noosa River, south is the Noosa National Park. To be short: it is a lot of Noosa confusion, but here it refers to the entire area.
Sunshine Coast Airport (MCY) is about 30 minutes away and there are direct daily flights with Jetstar Airways and Virgin Blue
to/from Sydney and Melbourne, and only to Melbourne with Tiger Airways Australia.
Brisbane Airport is just a 1.5 hour drive south.
There are long distance bus services along the eastcoast of Australia on a regular basis, including buses to Cairns, Brisbane and Sydney.
Sunbus has frequent services between Maroochydore and Noosa, and links Noosa Heads, Noosaville, Noosa Junction and most of the centres. They also provide buses to areas north of Noosa, including Rockhampton, Townsville and Cairns.
Riverlight Ferry operates ferries between Noosa Heads and Tewantin, six to 10 times a day.
