Stockton on Tees is an important town in British industrial history, the former home of the Stockton to Darlington railway and a once thriving port. These days any visitors are likely to be passing through, however there are enough attractions to justify a brief stop.
Stockton station now only serves local routes, with regular trains to Newcastle.
Stockton is easily accessible by car, being on the A66 trans-pennine route and close to the A1(M) North-South arterial route.
