Tarangire National Park is about 120 kilometres from Arusha and is commonly included in safaris in the region. It is famous for its baobab trees, tree-climbing lions (though almost never seen anymore), and elephants. Due to its year-round water, it has an extremely high density of wildlife during the dry season.

• Sun Bright Camp at Mto wa Mbu, about an hour from Tarangire and close to Lake Manyara National Park, is a good value option. (Limited) hot water, electricity, and booze are available here. It's a popular stop for safaris.
