Introduction
Just two and a half hours or 115 km northeast of Urumqi you'll find a small deep-blue mountain lake set in the midst of the surrounding snow capped peaks of the Tianshan Range. The lake is known to the locals as Tian Chi (天池) or Heavenly Lake (in Mandarin Chinese) and the whole place has the feel of the Swiss Alps.

Getting There
By Bus
- Buses leave from 9:00 am to 9:30 am, returning at about 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Bus fare cost CNY 50 and leaves from the Xidaqiao Intersection end of the People's Park.
