Travel Guide > Middle East > Jordan > Wadi Rum
Wadi Rum is a valley in the southern Jordanian desert known for its sand dunes. It is located one hour south of Petra and a popular tourist destination.
Wadi Rum actually consists of a series of valleys about 2 kilometres wide stretching north to south for about 130 kilometres. Among the valleys is a desert landscape of sand and rocks.
Wadi Rum can be visited all year long, though it can get extremely hot in summer and nights can get below zero during winter. Spring and autumn are a good time for a visit.
