1. Wie ist das Ambiente? Das PataPata (ehemals Patiperro) ist ein liebenswürdiges Hostal mit familiärem Charakter. Auf zwei Stockwerken finden sich Dorms und Doppelzimmer, Lounge, Küche und eine Art Esszimmer. Trotz der zwei Stockwerke ist das PataPata ein überschaubar großes Hostel. Besitzer Alejandro Flores und seine Familie tragen nicht unwesentlich dazu bei, dass man sich hier im Handumdrehen zu Hause fühlen kann. 2. Warum sollte ich dort hin gehen? Der Patio ist das Herz des Hostels. Hier trifft man sich, raucht, trinkt und lernt sich kennen. Raubzüge ins Nachtleben starten in der Regel ebenfalls hier. Auch die Lage des Hauses auf dem Cerro Alegre und gute Atmosphäre im Haus tragen dazu bei, dass das PataPata sehr zu empfehlen ist. Das Frühstück mit echtem Kaffee, frischen Früchten, Brot, Marmelade und zuweilen Eiern sticht aus dem Einheitsbrei heraus, den man gewöhnlich in Hostels finden kann. Man frühstückt mit Blick über Valparaíso, was den Genuss noch erhöht. Manche Gäste behaupten, es sei das beste Frühstück in ganz Südamerika. 3. Welche Arten von Zimmern gibt es? Zwei Dorms (vier und zehn Betten) und zwei Doppelzimmer stehen zur Verfügung, wobei die Kapazität des einen Doppelzimmers auf bis zu vier Betten erhöht werden kann. 4. Was kostet die Nacht? Die Nacht im großen Dorm (8 Betten) schlägt mit 8000 CLP zu Buche, im kleinen Dorm (4 Betten) kostet es 8500 CLP. Die Doppelzimmer kosten 23000 CLP bzw. 25000 CLP (für das Zimmer). Jede weitere Person im Doppelzimmer mit vier Betten muss 8500 CLP bezahlen. Das Frühstück ist in den Preisen inbegriffen. 5. Wer sind die Nachbarn? Das Hostel liegt im Herzen des Cerro Alegre, zusammen mit dem Cerro Concepción einem der schönsten Hügel Valparaísos. Hier schlägt das kulturelle und kulinarische Herz der Stadt, auch wenn das Essen hier etwas teurer ist. Aber auch die günstigeren Gegenden wie die Calle Cumming oder die Subida Ecuador mit ihren kleinen Kneipen und Bars sind problemlos zu Fuß zu erreichen. Auf den Cerros Alegre und Concepción finden sich viele kleine Galerien, nette Läden und ein paar Museen. 6. In welchen Zeiten wird hier gelebt? Das Frühstück wird von 9 Uhr bis 10 Uhr serviert. Die Gäste bekommen einen Schlüssel und können kommen und gehen, wann es ihnen beliebt. 7. Was sagt der Besitzer? „Das PataPata ist nicht nur ein Hostel, sondern auch das Heim unserer wachsenden Familie, Mama, Papa, und zwei Söhne. Wir sind Porteños, ein Begriff, der die Menschen in einem Hafen wie Valparaíso bezeichnet. Jeden Tag bemühen wir uns, unseren Service zu verbessern, damit die Touristen ihren Aufenthalt in unserem Weltkulturerbe Valparaíso auf die bestmögliche Weise genießen können.
