personally, i think u should bring ur laptop. if you are living in hostels, usually there will be a huge number of DVDs to watch in the hostel's library. some places have free wifi, like in Auckland NZ's library, you get 100Mb free per day. so is Mobil gas station in Tauranga that gives you 400Mb free a day. ...
