PROS: It was cheap. Had a minimal kitchen to cook in. Not a far walk to downtown. Taxi station is close by. Has a small store next door. Lots of pretty plants and trees in the yard. Clean linens. CONS: No hot water for showers. We had to buy lights for our room. The toilet seat was broken. ... more

Amanda, I suggest you take a look at Zihuatanejo , or shortened to: Zee-what. Fishing village, a zocalo, decent beaches. Cheap places to stay in town and the big flash resorts of Ixtapa are just 10 km away. Stay in Zee-what, visit Ixtapa if you want discos, upscale restaurants, nightlife. Another place ... -

I once went from Las Vegas to Acapulco by bus. And back! Took a month and I stopped at most of the beach cites on the way to Acapulco. I suggest Zihuatanejo . Good beaches , a cobblestoned zocalo, a pretty, traditional Mexican fishing village. Only 5 miles away is Ixtapa . Plenty of nightlife ... -
