Canberra is the capital city of Australia and is located in the Australian Capital Territory to the southwest of Sydney. Following a long dispute over whether Sydney or Melbourne should be the national capital, a compromise was reached: Canberra. It was constructed in the early 1900s following a design by architect Walter Burley Griffin.

Great for a YHA - good lounge spaces, pool, roof terrace and big kitchen area. Kitchen equipment was sadly lacking and the tin opener (chained to the worktop!) had definitely seen better days but the cooking areas were good. Parking near the hostel is easy and good value and, on the whole, the staff were helpful. ... more
