The Baobab on Lower Main

The Baobab on Lower Main

Worst place we ever stayed. Payed 1200 ZAR for 3 single rooms, while we booked two twins. Rooms we very small, very dirty, my sheets were washed out and full with dirty spots. On New Year's Day cleaners were extremely noicy at 8 am and even put on very loud music. Bad location. ... more

We only stayed one night. Booking was easy and without any problems. Our room was on the 3rd floor under the roof and very hot in the morning. The beds are okay, but the floor was old and trammeling and musty. The shared bathroom was quite clean. Unortunately the Wi-Fi did not reach to our storey. ... more

Observatory Backpackers

Observatory Backpackers were excellent. Their staff were extremely welcoming and helpful with recommendations for local points of interest and arranging airport transfers, car hire etc. Also very knowledgeable about travelling in Southern Africa and generally. Rooms, kitchen and facilities are very clean and of a high standard. ... more

Our stay was splendid. The crew was very helpful and friendly, the rooms were very clean and there was a lot of space and our beds were made every morning.

A really great hostel - friendly and helpful staff, great facilities, decent breakfast and a safe location. There's a decent TV room and pool table and some pleasant social areas to hang out in.

We stayed in one of the houses so it was quiet. The people on the desk and the person who looked after the house we stayed in were both very friendly and helpful.

We had a pleasant stay, we slept in one of the private on-suite rooms. A bit more effort can be put into cleaning though, especially the floor.

About half a mile from the train station and close to all the restaurants and bars, Boulders beach is about a 20 min walk away. The train from Cape Town took just over an hour and only cost about £1.

Great hotel for everybody who wants to stay in the near of where it all is in Cape Town, but not to be amongst the party folks of Long Street. Clean, nicely furnished, friendly.

The Anzac Backpackers is a rather strange but neat place. The rooms are above the pub of the hostel and the hostel itself is above a noisy café.

I had an amazing stay here over new years. Many of us came in after dawn and chatted on the couch. We played cards and shared stories. There is a family atmosphere here. Thanks.
