Cardiff is a historic city in the very south of Wales. While it was quite a small town for most of its existence, Cardiff grew dramatically throughout the 19th and 20th centuries on the back of the coal industry, for which it served as a major port.

This hostel was in a fairly good location, just a short walk from Cardiff city centre (though we were greeted with a blank expression when we asked for a map of the city). This was my first stay in a hostel, and it was absoultely excellent. It was better than staying in a hotel. Everything was spotlessly clean, and the relaxed atmosphere allowed people to meet one another in a friendly manner. The breakfast was an excellent bonus.
