Harare is the capital and also the largest city in Zimbabwe. The city itself has a population of roughly 1.6 million people while the metropolitan area has 2.8 million inhabitants. Harare was foundend in 1890 by Cecil Rhodes and his companions, but was named Salisbury at first and only became known as Harare since 1982.
